5 facts about Ugljan

1. Ugljan is located on the island of Ugljan, which is the closest island of the Zadar archipelago. It is located right across from the town of Zadar, from which is divided by only few nautical miles and connected with many ferryboat lines. Also called the green island, covered with dense bush, pine trees, olive trees, fig trees, vineyards and other Mediterranean vegetation. The surface area of the island is 51,85 km2, while the coastline is 74 km.

2. Ugljan is made up of 9 small villages, each special for itself. The most beautiful small village on Ugljan is called Muline. Muline will delight you with its hospitality, beautiful beaches and bays, and cuisine. This is a place for perfect relaxing family vacation.

3. Ugljan has been inhabited since the Neolithic age, as evidenced by archaeological sites 3000 years old.
The first known people on Ugljan were Liburnians, an Illyrian tribe. In the middle of the first century the island was conquered by the Romans. One of the Roman colonists was called Gellia, and after him Ugljan was named.
